Global Ministries University stands in solidarity with Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, and other institutions of higher learning that are opposing the current administration’s attacks on freedom of speech, academic integrity, and the United States Constitution. GMU upholds the primacy of scientific inquiry and critical thinking with its premier postgraduate program, promoting the compatibility and complementarity of science and religion. As an international online learning platform for theological education, rather than disparaging, GMU is committed to upholding the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its endeavors.

Kendall Kennedy, law professor and co-director of Harvard’s Academic Freedom Council, depicts the issue as an attack on freedom itself. “What’s happening at Harvard, Columbia, and other universities is unprecedented in U.S. history. What the government is seeking is subordination and subjugation, and that’s terrible and must be resisted… I’m very pleased that those responsible for higher education seem to be uniting more strongly in defense of educational autonomy and academic freedom” (https://english.elpais.com/usa/2025-04-21/harvard-stands-up-to-trump-a-tremendous-battle-will-have-to-be-fought-to-defend-academic-freedom.html).

Contrary to Vice President J.D. Vance’s characterization, “Universities Are the Enemy” (Vance’s keynote address at the second National Conservatism Conference, 11/02/21), universities are entrusted with the education and advancement of future generations. This sacred obligation should never be undermined or abridged for political convenience or expediency.
