ABOUT ACCREDITATION
Global Ministries University is not accredited as the word is most commonly understood for a number of reasons.  For example, Accrediting agencies such as the Association of Theological Schools (ATS)  do not have a mechanism in place for the evaluation of the educational model of Global Ministries University. GMU is exempt from the jurisdiction of ATS based on the following unique characteristics of this institution:

  1. We are ecumenical and interreligious in program offerings, student body and institutional philosophy and mission and do not embrace a doctrinal faith statement that would require exclusion of certain faith communities.
  2. We retain U.S.-based and international contract faculty rather than employing residential faculty.

Global Ministries University asserts that the academic integrity of an institution can be measured by the credentials of its faculty, the affiliations it holds, and the academic and professional accomplishments of its students and alumni. GMU offers thought-provoking contemporary courses facilitated by competent instructors who are required to hold a master degree and most of whom hold a doctoral degree.

However, we wish to be upfront with prospects and would like to make it clear that GMU credits may or may not be:
·  considered a requisite for entry into higher-level degree programs at other schools;
·  acceptable to a potential employer;
.  transferable into programs of other schools.

If you must have an accredited degree, it is recommended that you refer to the databases of either or both the US Dept. of Education (USDE): http://op.ed.gov/accreditation and/or Council for Higher Education (CHEA): http://chea.org/search.

Even though it is important to consider all aspects of accreditation, keep in mind that accreditation is not always necessary and accredited schools are typically  more expensive and rigid.  Global Ministries University has the capacity to provide students with quality programs at an affordable cost, programs that can be custom-designed to meet one’s particular academic and/or ministerial goals, programs that do not require testing.   Instead of memorizing data for a test, our students are given essay-type assignments. With this learning method, students are empowered to express themselves and channel their learning experience in a direction that will nurture growth on their particular spiritual path.
