The passing of former American President Jimmy Carter at 100 years of age reminds us of the challenge he posed in his lifetime for present and future generations. A man of deep Christian faith, he worked tirelessly to create a world of peace, understanding, and social justice. He created a template for all future world leaders to defend human rights, democratic norms, and diplomacy to mediate social and political conflicts. His work on behalf of the most impoverished citizens and nations to alleviate poverty and disease was extended over his entire lifetime of the past century. His mediation of the Middle East conflict between Egypt and Israel led to his receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
Global Ministries University has based its global mission on many of the same moral and spiritual values that informed the life of President Carter. In our own time, we continue to face numerous challenges to create a sustainable world order free of violence and social disorders, and conflicts and in harmony with our Mother Earth. Global education is one of the pillars that can build a foundation for a liveable future for all of humanity.
Global Ministries University will continue to honor the legacy of President Carter through our global educational projects linking the United States with all of North and South America and the people of Africa and India. We celebrate the life and accomplishments of President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalyn Carter, and the mission of the Carter Center, which he and his wife founded. May their spirit continue to animate our own mission as global citizens,
Gerald Grudzen. PhD.
